Forwarding HTML email from Apple's Mail.app

Today, I received a nicely formatted email message discussing the
benefits of eating apples, and I decided to forward it on to a friend.

However, when I chose "Forward" in Apple's Mail.app, all the nice
formatting disappeared..

After some experimentation, I found that choosing "Redirect" from the
Message menu maintained the formatting.
